So that's a spring-loaded bayonet?

I mean, that could be kinda dangerous... to the weapon system's operator.

What Kelly did was she pushes a non-obvious button and the bayonet shot out of the front of the barrel. During the civil war, bayonets were very common, but were external attachments. I'm going to state that the way this barrel bayonet was designed that it SHOULDN'T be dangerous to the operator, and I would expect that it would be shout out as an "alt trigger" effect at close range to further make it difficult for an enemy to grab the weapon and turn it against the operator.
